BUNs officially started on April 26, 2020, but in all actuality BUNs began as a seed planted in a baker's head in Tel Aviv over a decade ago. . .
Our head baker Guy travelled the world baking and learning and experiencing, and eventually landed in Providence, RI by way of Johnson and Wales University.
Fast forward to the global pandemic known as coronavirus, which altered all of our lives in March of 2020. Guy was baking like a fiend at home, honing his craft and refueling his inner passion and true love of baking. With more delicious baked breads and treats then they knew what to do with, Guy and Erin sent out a facebook post wondering if anyone would be interested in these homemade treats delivered to their doorsteps.
The response was tremendous. People were indeed interested, and within 2 weeks it was clear that a bigger kitchen was needed; there may have been an ultimatum that it is the babka or the marriage! Luckily Hope and Main in Warren, RI was available to rescue BUNs Bakery with a commercial bakery space.
The BUNs community has truly been an inspiration. It is a pleasure to reach the Jewish community in RI and just as joyful to meet our other supporters who just love artisan crafted baked delicacies. RI is a special place - in spite of the weather at times - and good food is the universal language spoken in this little state.
